Why should I submit my work to The Model Magazine?
The Model Magazine has readers from all over the world. We are here to give an opportunity to those who would like to expose their work internationally, to show others what they’ve got. To be recognized as some of the best modeling industry people in the world.
What criteria do you have for submission for print and for on-line?
For our print issue, there are 3 main criteria:
For exclusive print submissions (which may qualify for the cover) : All images submitted should be new and totally unpublished. They MUST NOT be previously published. (‘Published’ includes any social media web-site, personal websites, the internet, magazines, newspapers, press releases, etc.)
For on-line submission : We ask for a minimum of 4 different outfits/looks. (*Please note that a tear sheet is NOT available for on-line publication. It may be requested, together with a reduced nominal $25 administrative fee from our cuttings agency.) Please note that natural fur or any endangered species’ items (such as ivory tusks) will not be allowed.
Do you allow nudity?
The Model Magazine does not publish any images containing genitalia. No nipples are to be visible on female models except by prior special permission. The Model Magazine must be suitable for delivery to many communities and countries.
Do you allow fur?
NO. The Model Magazine is STRONGLY against the use of real fur for styling. We do allow faux (fake) fur but only with minimal use. We prefer no fur at all.
What do you look for in editorial submissions?
We look for originality, high quality of work and composition. We generally prefer images shot on location.
Do you pay for commission work?
The Model Magazine is still a relatively new magazine and we do not pay for commission work yet. Currently all non-submitted photography is produced internally by the resident photographer(s). Hopefully we will be able to do so for specially commissioned work in the future.
Can you provide Pull Letter for our stylist?
We can provide a Pull Letter upon request. However, you must have at least 1 editorial published in our print issue first in order to qualify for a Pull Letter from us. This is to ensure that we are confident in your work and you will deliver what is expected by everyone involved.
How many pages will you provide for editorial publish in the print issue?
We normally provide 6 – 10 pages for editorial exclusive submissions but in some cases we do provide up to 14 pages. For non-exclusive submissions we may provide upto 8 pages. How can I get on the cover of The Model Magazine print issue?
Close to the date that a new issue comes out, each of our editorial team member will pick an image, often from exclusive editorials that have been accepted for that particular issue, which we think will look the best as a cover. Our editorial team will then vote for their favorite from the selection. Images with the least votes will be filtered out. We will repeat the same procedure until only one image is left and that image will become the issue cover. This means that, anyone who has their editorial accepted in our print issue could be on the cover.
Do you provide free print copy?
No, we do not provide free print copy. The Model Magazine is very keen in helping the environment. Unlike most other magazines, we do not over-print. We understand that some people will request a print issue just to tear out their pages and throw the rest of the magazine in the trash. Wasting resources and destroying the environment for just a few pages is not acceptable. Also, unlike many other magazines, which often contain over 60% adverts, The Model Magazine has a lower proportion. So we don’t have the requisite funding to subsidize the cost of giving out free copies. We pride ourselves as a collectable publication, proud to grace the finest coffee table and bookshelf. We produce the exact number of print issues to satisfy our print issue subscribers. Ad-hoc orders are print-on-demand. If your work has been published in our print issue, we will provide you with a PDF tear sheet, which you may print out for your portfolio.
