Stefan Steiner Menswear SS17 Collection – Deindustrialization

For the new Stefan Steiner’s menswear Spring Summer 2017 collection, he has selected a cement factory for the photo-shoot. A deindustrialized place from another era. The factory buildings are partly demolished and is used as a studio for start-ups. The clothes are aimed at urban men in a post-industrialized society, that is, a contrast to the place that has fallen apart. The irony here is that the dresses are made exclusively in Europe under socially acceptable conditions with industrial machines. Stefan’s focus is to reduce the style to the essentials. Straight line cuts and punches with raster-like prints as well as waxed surfaces for jackets further characterize the collection. For the aesthetic concept of his collections, Steiner is inspired by architecture.
